RiverCity Woodworks
Highest Quality Custom Woodworking
Hal Johnston - Master Craftsman

Picture

Everything built at RiverCity Woodworks is custom made using modern machinery for the sake of speed, and old fashioned techniques for quality and integrity.
Since Hal builds each piece himself, you can be assured that everything is built by a master craftsman, not a production shop worker.
Every piece of lumber and veneer that goes into making these pieces is hand-chosen from the best available, environmentally responsible sources.

GOLDEN TIGER BOARD
This was made to commemorate donors to Mosier Community School.

Picture
This is the genuine mahogany board I made the columns & crown molding from.

Picture
Closeup of carving, before it had a finish coating.

The GOLDEN TIGER BOARD is made of genuing mahogany (the fluted columns & crown molding), tiger wood (behind the gold lettering and the bottom rail), wenge (the black trim for the horizontal rails), white maple (carved tiger) & curly maple veneer (this was applied to 3/4" maple veneer plywood for the lower panel).
No new wood was used for this project.  Every piece was either something I had saved, that was left over or scrap from a previous project, or I had purchased or been given many years ago to save for something special.

Antique Barnwood
Folding Farm Table
(Unfinished when photo was taken)

RECENT PROJECT

This farm table is made from recycled barn siding from Mill A, Washington and crate material from Brazil.
This is the prototype for 15 tables being produced to serve as rental wedding and event tables, which will be available summer of 2013 through RiverHood Rentals, in Hood River, Oregon.

The cool thing about this table is that the legs fold up so the table can be transported easily, or if it is used as a backyard picnic table, it can be stored indoors when not being used
.

Quartersawn white oak doors, made to replace some old worn out doors in Mosier Middle School.
RECENT PROJECT
These two little doors (approximately 150 lbs. each) are solid quartersawn White Oak, with Wenge & Jatoba inlay.
They were fit to the old existing steel door frame.
The next stage will be to add a little entry roof and new trim.
